The Daphne Ring takes its name from the laurel sacred to Apollo, inseparable from the ritual world of his oracle at Delphi. The Pythia, Apollo’s prophetic priestess, was closely associated with the sacred tree, its leaves and branches becoming symbols of prophecy and divine revelation.
Daphne is sculpted as a primitive, wobbly band - irregular in form, its surface left alive with the traces of the hand that shaped it.
